Family Therapy

Strengthening Connections, Creating Understanding

Families are considered as our first support system—yet even the strongest families may face challenges that could possibly disrupt communication, connection, and trust. Whether you’re dealing with conflict, parenting concerns, life transitions, behavioural challenges, or emotional struggles, family therapy offers a structured and compassionate space to work through difficulties together.

With over 25 years of experience supporting families in clinical, educational, and community settings, I bring a deep understanding of family dynamics, neurodiversity, and developmental needs. I work collaboratively with families to help each member feel seen, heard, and supported.

Using a blend of evidence-based approaches—including Emotion-Focused Skills Therapy (EFST), CBT, DBT-informed strategies, Mindfulness, and Attachment-based frameworks—our sessions will focus on:

In individual therapy, we will work collaboratively to:

  • Improving communication and emotional expression.
  • Repairing and strengthening relationships.
  • Supporting children and youth with behavioural or emotional needs.
  • Empowering parents and caregivers with tools to respond effectively.
  • Building resilience and co-regulation within the family system.

For families navigating neurodivergence, sensory sensitivities, or emotional dysregulation, I offer additional support through the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)—a polyvagal-informed intervention that helps regulate the nervous system and enhance relational safety.

Family therapy is not about placing blame—it’s about creating space for understanding, healing, and change. Each session is tailored to the unique strengths and needs of your family, with the goal of fostering greater harmony and emotional connection.
